POTA Lower School Club Info Fall 2026
Please note: If already signed up for Extended Day on the afternoon of a certain club, your child may participate in the club with no additional fees due. If your child does not regularly attend Extended Day on the day of a desired club, you are welcome to sign up for the club as an “a la carte” add-on, and your child will be welcome to stay on those afternoons to participate, with dismissal at the end of the club activity time.

Art Club, Fall Semester - $325

ART CLUB
Mondays, 4:00-4:45 PM; Sept. 14-Dec. 21 (no class 9/21, 10/12)
Designed for Kindergarten students, this art program introduces children to a wide variety of creative processes through hands-on exploration, experimentation, and self-expression. Students will work with traditional and nontraditional materials while developing their own ideas, discovering new techniques, and learning about artists from both the past and present.
Projects incorporate activities such as:
* painting, drawing, photography, and ceramics
* building, sculpting, and three-dimensional art
* collaging and mixed-media projects
* creating with recycled and nontraditional materials
* experimenting with spray bottles, sponges, found objects, and other unexpected tools
* exploring different ways to apply paint and create unique textures and effects
* studying the work of contemporary and historic artists
* creating original artwork inspired by the artists, techniques, and ideas explored in class
Through these experiences, children develop creativity, confidence, and self-expression while strengthening fine motor skills, problem-solving, and creative thinking. They are encouraged to make choices, experiment with materials, take creative risks, and discover their own artistic voices. Students also develop an appreciation for the many different ways art can be created, understood, and experienced.
Rather than focusing on creating a single “right” outcome, projects encourage children to explore, experiment, and discover. Throughout the year, students’ artwork will be collected into an end-of-the-year art journal/book that they will be able to take home. The finished book will serve as a collection of their artwork, ideas, experimentation, and creative experiences from the year.
KARATEKIDZ CLUB
Tuesdays, 4:00-4:45 PM; Sept. 15-Dec. 22 (no class 9/29)
Designed for Kindergarten and elementary-aged students, KarateKidz™ introduces children to the fundamentals of martial arts through exciting movement, games, teamwork, and mindfulness. Developed by a 7th-degree black belt, each class blends fitness, character education, and practical martial arts skills in a fun, supportive environment.
Children develop:
* strength, balance, and coordination
* focus and self-control
* confidence and resilience
* teamwork and respect
* listening and problem-solving skills
* healthy movement habits
* perseverance and a positive mindset
Classes incorporate activities such as:
* martial arts stances, kicks, and beginner self-defense skills
* partner drills and focus pad activities
* Ninja obstacle courses and movement challenges
* Karate Tag and cooperative games
* breathing exercises and mindfulness techniques
* Shaolin Five Animals lessons that reinforce important life skills through imaginative movement
Children explore the unique strengths of the Tiger (courage), Leopard (speed), Crane (balance), Dragon (wisdom), and Snake (precision), using movement and storytelling to build confidence and character alongside physical skills.
KarateKidz™ offers an engaging introduction to martial arts while helping children develop strong bodies, focused minds, and positive character. Students leave each class with new skills, increased confidence, and life lessons that extend well beyond the dojo.

Hebrew School Re-Imagined!
Through the universal language of art, our students study and experience Jewish values, traditions, holidays, and culture. Our innovative and creative classes are both teacher-led and self-directed, allowing children to own their Judaism.
Our unique Aleph Champ program motivates our students to enthusiastically climb the ranks until they are fluently reading Hebrew!
